With my first outdoor show behind me, I’m declaring it a success! I am excited and looking forward to the next opportunity.

I met some really nice people, learned a thing or two and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am delighted that some of my work is now hanging in the homes of my new home town neighbors.
Here are some of the pieces that folks took home with them.

My work received many compliments and I enjoyed talking with people about the various pieces that caught their eye. Thank you all for stopping in to look and talk. I hope to see or hear from you again.

I also want to thank the Blairsville Downtown Development Authority and Robin Roberts Promotions for making this year’s show a success. Robin Roberts Promotions was only brought in to organize the show late in the process. I know Robin and her crew worked very hard to make it as smooth and successful as it was. I couldn’t have chosen a better venue for my 1st show.

In the summer of 2010 I stumbled upon a problem with ADOBE Lightroom. After several phone calls to ADOBE’s support department, a problem was opened, a bug report submitted, bug fix request opened and subsequently the problem was fixed.

That is until now. I upgraded to version 4.0 recently and over the past couple days, spent a good deal of time creating a catalog of certain images. OOPS!

The bug was this: The search and the sort functions didn’t always recognize the aspect ratios of images. While ADOBE worked on the fix, they discovered a work-around which works on this re-occurance of the problem. Simply select the images and rotate them in any direction and then back again.

Apparently this causes the database to be updated with the correct aspect ratio????? (I guess) Whatever, the work-around works.

I submitted a bug report today and also sent a short email to the really helpful tech (I’m serious, she was great to work with) who handled my problem in 2010. Hopefully we’ll see a fix soon.

Well alrighty then . . . . .

After several years of struggling with the PHOTOCRATI theme for my WordPress website, I gave up. I purchased it because they did a fair job (at the time) of displaying images and seemed to be photography centric. They also had a working integration of the Simple PayPal Shopping Cart. Over time I realized they were to be oriented toward wedding or portrait photographers and fell short for showing or selling fine art photography.

PHOTOCRATI promised a lot but in my opinion, rarely delivered what was promised and failed to meet their announced delivery dates. I’m not saying their theme won’t work for many photographers. To their credit, I have to say they fully refunded my purchase price long after their standard guarantee period. The theme just didn’t work for me and their promises of making it better just prolonged the redesign of my website month after month.

Finally, I scrapped everything and started with a fresh WordPress installation, a new theme and a hand full of plugins and I am pleased with the results.

If you happen across this blog post and are interested in what theme or plugins I’m using, shoot me a note and I’ll be happy to tell you.

Peace out Y’all.
Paul
